Looking at camera VS Off-camera

Looking at camera VS Off-camera

Either we stare at loved ones intensely, or we look at strangers to decipher their intentions. The eyes are the window to the soul. We are animals in the lookout for potential threats, food, or mates, being our eyes our first point of contact.

Which one will you choose for your video?

Off-camera

  • The audience feels it is more natural, because of our voyeuristic nature.
  • The content is more dynamic.
  • It Promotes a more active listening from the audience.
  • It is more suited for sharing feelings and understanding.
  • The listening becomes more open and active.
  • Best suited for stories, testimonials, documentaries.
  • The person in-camera feels at ease.

Into the camera

  • The audience feels tense.
  • The emotional connection is higher.
  • It increase the attention of the audience when the speaker dominates the subject, but the intensity cause more fatigue.
  • It makes people put in a defensive listening mode.
  • Best suited for experts and opinion leaders.
  • The person in-camera could feel uncomfortable while recording.
